Distinguished Lecture on “Roadmap of Flexible Electronics”

Prof. Iniguez wanted to held the distinguished lecture in person at the NanoP competence center of the THM University of Applied Sciences in Gießen Germany. Due to the increasing numbers of infected persons by COVID in Germanyand Europe and the announced new regulations, the EDS Germany Chapter, the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen and Prof. Iniguez decided to shift the planned hybrid lecture to a fully virtual lecture. “This is the only option which makes sense at the current situation.” The distinguished lecture on “Roadmap of Flexible Electronics” was held on November 23, 2021. It was organized by the EDS Germany Chapter and co-sponsored by the NanoP from THM – University of Applied Sciences. The DL was attended by 33 IEEE participants, as well as other non IEEE members. The distinguished lecture of Benjamin from DEEEA, University Rovira i Virgili, Spain gave an overview and perspective on the concept roadmap of flexible electronics. The lecture started with an introduction into the topic. Gave same market share values and focus on the most promising materials organic and oxide semiconductors. Different devices, their scope and potential stakeholders were shown. Afterwards, a technology status was reported by Prof. Iniguez including the challenges and potential solutions. The lecture finished with some recommendations with focus on modeling, especially where modeling can support technology finding solutions. The lecture concluded with an increasing demand by wearable’s and the need of flexible electronics which are biodegradable.
