Awarded Cross-Institutional Project on Education
The 2024 awarded education project “FEM for FSI with Open Source Software” , organized by Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Roland Wüchner (TU München) and Dr.-Ing. Ann-Kathrin Goldbach (TU München), in collaboration with Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ursula Kowalsky (TU Braunschweig), developed collaborative methodologies for master programs. The event included online lectures, hands-on coding exercises, and a workshop where students worked in interdisciplinary teams to solve research challenges. A total of 46 online participants (including 11 from TU Braunschweig) and 19 in-person participants (1 Bachelor, 7 Master students from TU München, and 11 Master students from TU Braunschweig) engaged in projects spanning computational mechanics, aerospace, and civil engineering. The event successfully fostered international research collaboration, despite initial challenges in the online phase, and concluded with final presentations of student projects. The organizers acknowledged IEEE for its generous support of this educational initiative.
The IEEE Germany Section funds these educational initiatives in a bi-annual call for Cross-Institutional Projects in Education. Interested applicants can refer to the call in this link.
