GeCon 2024 – Day 1
We have just concluded an insightful first day of the IEEE German Education Conference (GECon) 2024, sharing a variety of insightful educational topics. Our keynote speaker, Prof. Stephan Krusche, delivered an inspiring presentation titled “Artemis: Interactive Learning with Generative AI,” highlighting the development of AI assistance in education and its impact on student learning experiences. His talk emphasized the integration of novel technologies in the Artemis learning platform, providing personalized support and detailed explanations based on generative AI, which sparked a lively Q&A session.
Besides, the day featured six interactive workshops covering a range of innovative topics. These included “Beyond the Classroom,” which explored project-based learning with tools like MATLAB and Simulink; “Challenge-Based Learning and Collaborative Teaching,” focusing on interdisciplinary teamwork; “HandsOn HIVE – Digital Lab for Electronics,” showcasing LabsLand’s digital lab technology; and “Enhancing Learning Outcomes with Interactive Formative Assessment using MATLAB Grader,” which delved into formative assessment strategies. Additionally, “Pillars of Learning – Active Engagement” discussed active engagement techniques, while “Fostering Student Conceptual Understanding in Introductory Engineering Courses” introduced research-based instructional materials.
The day concluded with a delightful guided tour around Munich, visiting the most historic places and learning insighful historic remarks of this lovely city. We are delighted with the engagement displayed by all participants and look forward to another day filled with insightful sessions tomorrow.
