Student Branch of the Hamburg Technical University (TUHH)

The Student Branch of the Hamburg Technical University (TUHH) is proud to report on a successful year 2016 during which we have reached an all-time high in membership numbers. One reason for that was the hosting and participation in several social and educational events.

These include some events organized by other IEEE members, such as the IEEE Student & Young Professional Congress 2016 in Regensburg and the EMC Bootcamp at the Helmut-Schmidt University in Hamburg. Others were organized by the Student Branch itself in collaboration with local companies and alumni of the Branch, like a case study competition sponsored by Rohde & Schwarz and a visit to the research and fabrication facilities of NXP Semiconductors in Hamburg. This year the Branch also hosted two of its successful and open-to-all-students board game nights known as “SpIEEEleabend” and the semi-annual “Bier- und Brezelabend” recruitment evening featuring cold beverages and fresh pretzels. The Branch also participated with its own attractions in the two big campus-wide events of the TUHH: The summer festival and the “night of knowledge”. During all those events neither science nor pleasure fell short of expectation.

With these achievements in our minds the Student Branch Hamburg is looking forward to a promising year 2017. Visits to the Deutsche Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR) in Bremen and Lufthansa Technik in Hamburg as well as an alumni night featuring former members of the branch giving insight into their work and employers are already planned and yield high expectations.
