SUMMARY:The openHPI Learning Platform – Successfully Creating a Virtuous Cycle of Teaching\, Development\, and Research
DESCRIPTION:Dear researcher\, GeCon 2022 is announcing a new Keynote speaker to take place on August 11th-12th related to Massive Open Line Courses (MOOC). Due to the impact of Corona on traditional teaching in classrooms\, new approaches concerning online teaching strategies have been abruptly applied by all of us. We hope this Keynote speech will support the research community’s efforts. We look forward to seeing you at this hybrid conference in Berlin!!! \n\nTITLE: The openHPI Learning Platform – Successfully Creating a Virtuous Cycle of Teaching\, Development\, and Research. \nABSTRACT: In 2012\, the New York Times proclaimed the “Year of the MOOC”. In September of the same year\, the first course with thousands of participants went online on openHPI\, the Hasso Plattner Institute’s new learning platform. In 2020\, due to the pandemic\, the “Second Year of the MOOC” was proclaimed by the media. End of 2021\, the number of enrollments on openHPI has passed the first million. About a hundred courses have been offered on the platform so far. Meanwhile\, the success of the platform and the course format convinced others. The HPI now operates about ten instances of the learning platform for partners in different contexts including corporate education (SAP)\, information for first responders and the public during pandemic outbreaks (WHO)\, national and federal research projects (AI-Campus\, eGov-Campus)\, teacher education (lernen.cloud) and more. Beginning of 2022\, the course enrollments on all platform instances in total have reached about 15 million. \nEnrollment numbers are one side of the coin\, success rates are the other. While\, generally\, MOOCs are often criticized for their low course completion\, openHPI boasts comparably good success rates. One of the success factors of the platform is that teaching\, development\, and research are heavily intertwined. Research topics are: social learning\, learning analytics\, game-based learning\, storification\, automated assessment\, peer assessment\, teamwork\, chatbots\, or mobile learning\, to mention just a few. Every researcher is involved in the development of features that are related to their research and every researcher has been teaching at least one course on the platform. Due to the pandemic\, many new use cases and different educational approaches had to be handled by the platform. Smaller courses\, internal courses\, blended courses\, etc. often with very different requirements. The presentation will provide insights on successful course design\, platform features\, research results\, and challenges that arose from the pandemic. \n \nDr. Thomas Staubitz is a Senior Lecturer at the Hasso Plattner Institute at the University of Potsdam. He has been a member of the Learning and Knowledge Engineering research group at the chair of Professor Christoph Meinel since 2013 and is significantly involved in the openHPI project. He is responsible for several related projects\, such as AI-Campus\, eGov-Campus\, or Corship. His research focus is on virtual teamwork in scalable learning environments and peer assessment. Other topics include online exams\, online proctoring\, and automated assessment of programming tasks. He has been involved in the production and delivery of about 30 MOOCs and SPOCs in various roles\, both in front of and behind the camera.

SUMMARY:EMC Professional Talk “New Developments in Antenna Measuring Techniques”
DESCRIPTION:New Developments in Antenna Measuring TechniquesAntennas are wave mode changers\, that are classically described by a set of antenna parameters such as input impedance\, gain\, directivity\, antenna factor and radiation diagram. Due to progressing complexity and integration of transmission systems\, the exact knowledge of these parameters is getting more and more important. For the measurement of quantities conforming to standards\, different measurement setups in absorber chambers and on open–area test sites exist. With progressing computational capabilities\, computationally intensive methods based on near–field–to–far–field transformation gain importance. Flying measurement platforms based on autarkic multicopters are used for the characterization of large stationary antenna systems. The talk shows somenew developments. \n12.05.2022\, 17:00 Uhr \nZoom: https://ovgu.zoom.us/j/65212681357?pwd=T085Q3k5MUtUL01yaDhXNXkybkIzUT09Meeting-ID: 652 1268 1357Kenncode: 751648 \nAbout the speaker:Thomas Kleine–Ostmann was born in Lemgo\, Germany\, in 1975. SUMMARY:EMC Professional Talk - Christian Schuster: Methods of Machine Learning: Tools or Toys for EMC Engineering?
DESCRIPTION:Methods of Machine Learning: Tools or Toys for EMC Engineering?\nOver the past few years various methods of machine learning (ML) have attracted attention in engineering disciplines. EMC engineering is one of them and in this presentation we try to understand why and how they help with tasks that are essential to EMC. After a short introduction into ML representative EMC related publications are reviewed and results from our own research in the area of power integrity are presented. \n22.03.2022\, 17:00 Uhr \nZoom: https://ovgu.zoom.us/j/65212681357?pwd=T085Q3k5MUtUL01yaDhXNXkybkIzUT09\nMeeting-ID: 652 1268 1357\nKenncode: 751648 \nThe slides will be provided on demand after the meeting:\nhttp://sites.ieee.org/germany-emc/contact-us/ \nAbout the speaker: \nChristian Schuster received the Diploma degree in physics from the University of Konstanz\, Germany\, in 1996\, and the Ph. SUMMARY:EMC Professional Talk - Andreas Barchanski: E&H – Instant Best Friends Forever
DESCRIPTION:E&H – Instant Best Friends Forever \nElectromagnetic field theory is probably not the most favorite topic for many engineers\, but it is crucial for understanding EMC. Many times\, teaching of electromagnetic fields includes a lot of heavy mathematics obscuring the actual physics of electromagnetic fields. In this presentation\, I use 3D electromagnetic field simulations to visualize the behavior of fields and how it results in effects that are important for EMC. After a short introduction to the calculation methods\, I will discuss concepts that we use daily like voltage\, current\, power transfer and shielding in terms of electromagnetic fields. Some of the content you will probably have heard of\, some of it might be surprising. \n08.03.2022\, 17:00 Uhr \nZoom: https://ovgu.zoom.us/j/65212681357?pwd=T085Q3k5MUtUL01yaDhXNXkybkIzUT09\nMeeting-ID: 652 1268 1357\nKenncode: 751648 \nThe slides will be provided on demand after the meeting:\nhttp://sites.ieee.org/germany-emc/contact-us/ \nAbout the speaker: \nDr. Andreas Barchanski – Andreas is a senior solution consultant for electromagnetic simulation at Dassault Systemes in Darmstadt\, Germany.
